Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026
RateSweep is made by PowerShare, Inc. ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the RateSweep app and this website collect, why, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. We have tried to write it in plain language.
The short version: we keep your email address and what you have bought so your account works. Your saved sweeps and trend charts stay on your phone. We read competitors' public websites, not anything about you. We do not sell your information, show ads, or share what you look at with other users.
1. What we collect
Your account
- Your email address. You sign in with your email and a six-digit code we send to it. There are no passwords.
- What you have bought and used — your plan, and how many reports you have used, including your free first report.
- Your plan's markets, if you have a plan: each market you chose (a website, address or ZIP code), the day and time they run, and the names you gave them.
- A notification address for your phone, if you allow notifications, so we can tell you when a report is ready. It identifies the phone's app, not you.
Your searches
- The website, address or ZIP code you type in to start a sweep.
- Your location, only when you tap Search nearby. It is used at that moment to find the storage facilities around you. We do not track your location, and the app never asks for it at any other time. You can turn location access off in your phone's settings; everything else still works.
What a sweep reads
A sweep reads storage facilities' own public websites — their unit sizes, prices and move-in specials, the same pages any customer can open. This is information about businesses, not about you.
2. What stays on your phone
Your past sweeps, your trend charts, the names you give your markets, and your facility's colours and logo are stored on your phone only. They are not sent to us. If you delete the app, they are deleted with it.
3. What our server keeps, and for how long
- Your account (email, plan, reports used, markets and schedule, notification address) — until you close your account.
- Sign-in codes — a few minutes, until they expire.
- A scheduled report waiting for your phone — held against your account until your phone collects it, then deleted. Anything not collected is deleted after 14 days.
- A record of each sweep — what was searched and the public prices that were read. We keep these to find and fix mistakes in how websites are read. These records are not linked to your email or your account, and they are never shown to anyone else or used to answer another person's sweep. Every sweep reads every website fresh.
4. How we use it
- To sign you in and run the sweeps you ask for.
- To run your plan's sweeps and tell you, by email and notification, when reports are ready.
- To keep track of what you have paid for.
- To fix problems and improve how accurately websites are read.
We do not send marketing emails, we do not show ads, and we do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
5. Services we use
A few outside services help run RateSweep. Each receives only what it needs for its job:
- Google Maps — to find storage facilities and addresses near the place you searched.
- Resend — to send our emails: your sign-in codes and report notices.
- Hetzner — the company whose servers, in the United States, run RateSweep.
- Apple App Store and Google Play — handle any purchase. We never see your card or payment details.
- RevenueCat — checks App Store and Google Play purchases and tells us which plan you have. It receives your email address as your customer reference, and your purchase history.
- Expo — forwards our notifications to Apple and Google to reach your phone.
6. Payments
Purchases and subscriptions are made through the Apple App Store or Google Play and are governed by their terms. They tell us which plan you have; we never receive your card number or billing details.
7. Your choices
- Location: turn it off at any time in your phone's settings.
- Notifications: turn them off at any time in your phone's settings.
- Your data on your phone: Setup in the app can clear it, or you can delete the app.
- Close your account: see Delete your account. You can do it in the app (Setup, then Account, then Delete my account). We delete your email, plan, markets and any waiting reports.
8. Security
The app talks to our server over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Account information is kept on a server that only we can reach. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep what we hold to the minimum the app needs.
9. Children
RateSweep is a business and shopping tool and is not meant for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us an email address, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or how we use it, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
